MATTHEW G BROWN
BIOGRAPHY
Matthew G. Brown has been singing, dancing and acting most of his life. Brown was born in Toronto to a Jamaican mother and father and began his musical training at the age of five; studying piano, drums, voice, and musical theatre at the Dixon Hall Music School. By the time he was nine, he was ready for his first public performance at the Dixon Hall Music School. He would go on to perform in the Dixon Hall Benefit Concert at the Heart House Theatre and an entertainer was born. At Rosedale Heights Secondary School, he sang in the choir, played drums in the band and performed in group and solo shows across the city, winning numerous awards and performing at yearly fundraisers for Dixon Hall, The Regent Park School of Music and the Minstrel Foundation. At 16 Matthew began to work professionally in Film and TV, Appearing in Color of Friendship and Good Fences (Starring Whoopi Goldberg and Danny Glover) where Matthew would play a young Mr Glover in Flashbacks. Matthew later attended the Randolph College for the Performing Arts and completed their Triple Threat Program. Since graduation Matthew has performed on stages across Canada including the Manitoba Theatre Centre Main-stage,The Toronto Centre for the Arts, The St Lawrence Centre in Toronto and both the Avon Theatre & Festival theatre in Stratford. He's also done a variety of Film & TV, working with the likes of Alexz Johnson, Laura Vandervoort, Graeme Campbell, Gregory Smith, Jon Cassar, Peter MacNeill, Ron Melrose, Jeremy Kushnier, Scott Wentworth, Kate Henning, Paul Nolan, Donna Feore, Wayne Cilento and Des McAnuff. Mr Brown is an Alum of the Canadian Film Centre Actors Conservatory where he was selected with 7 other actors to train with & be mentored by the industries best, like Kim Cattrall and Paul Haggis (among others). Matthew is currently living and working in Toronto. Catch him in the 2020 summer production of Comedy of Errors, as part of Canadian Stage's Shakespeare in High Park.
