November 27 Matthew returns to Stratford for Billy Elliot and Little Shop
Fresh off the heels of a successful Stratford season that included Matthew's featured portrayal of Tom Robinson in an extended run of To Kill a Mockingbird on the festival stage, Matthew will return to the festival in 2019 for some song and dance! Next season you can catch him as Mr. Braithwaite in Billy Elliot (Festival Theatre) and as the blood hungry voice of the Venus fly trap Audrey Two in Little Shop of Horror's (Avon Stage). This will be Matthew's fourth season in Stratford and his second on the Musical Theatre track, spending the last two years doing Shakespeare and Contemporary classics. Billy Elliot stars Nolen Dubuc, Dan Chameroy, Blythe Wilson and Scott Beaudin. Little Shop also stars Gabi Epstein, Andre Morin, Steve Ross and Dan Chameroy.
Tickets are on sale now for "Stratford Friend Members and above." Tickets will go on sale to the general public online on January 4th 2019 at Noon (12:00PM) and in-person or by phone on Saturday January 5th at 9AM. Buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment and get the best seats! DECEMBER 31 MATTHEW RETURNS TO THE STRATFORD FESTIVAL
After a successful second leg of Sister Act with Drayton Entertainment in Cambridge, Matthew is pleased to announce that he will be joining the 2017 Stratford Festival season. This will mark Matthew's second season in Stratford. He will feature in the season opening show Twelfth Night as The Captain & Priest (directed by Martha Henry) and he'll play Sir Toby Bumper in School for Scandal (Directed by Antoni Cimolino). Matthew will also be a non appearing understudy in Tartuffe (Directed by Chris Abraham). Twelfth Night opens on May 29th and runs until October 22nd, School for Scandal runs from June 3rd-October 22nd and Tartuffe runs from August 17th to October 15th. The Stratford festival is North America's largest classical repertory theatre company. Each season Stratford presents a dozen or more plays in four distinct venues that range from the classic's, contemporary and musicals, with an emphasis on Shakespeare. Tickets are available starting on January 6th, so be sure to mark that date on the calendar! Until then, please check out Stratford's website for more information on the upcoming season.
June 23 Gridlocked now available on Blu-Ray & Digitally
Gridlocked is now available to own via digital download & Blu-ray DVD. Offically released June 14th, Matthew appears in Gridlocked alongside Cody Hackman, Dominic Purcell and boasts a classic action movie cast including Stephen Lang, Vinnie Jones, Danny Glover and Trish Stratus. Previously Gridlocked made it's World Premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. Since then it has been apart of the Toronto After Dark Film Festival in Toronto and was just shown as part of Shanghai International Film Festival. JUNE 20th Sister act in It's final week in Grand Bend
Matthew G Brown is in the second and final week of Drayton Entertainment's Sister Act. The Musical starring Aurianna Tuttle, Susan Gilmore, Lee Siegal, Matthew and others will have a two city run. Grand Bend at the Huron County Playhouse (Currently on stage until June 25th) and Cambridge, ON at the Dunfield Theatre (November 23rd to December 24th). Sister Act the musical is written by Alan Menken (Music) and Glenn Slater (Lyrics), Cheri Steinkellner & Bill Steinkellner (Book) and additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane. Based on the Touchstone motion picture written by Joseph Howard. This production is Directed by Max Reimer, Choreographed by Lisa Stevens with Musical direction by Paul De Gurse. June 4th Matthew and the 2016 Dora Awards
The 2016 Dora Mavor Moore Awards are approaching and 3 shows that Matthew G Brown starred in are nominated for numerous awards! Jacob Two-Two meets the Hooded Fang (2 noms, YPT), Wizard of OZ (4 noms, YPT) and Grey Gardens (7 noms, Acting Upstage) have all been nominated for multiple Dora's, including: Outstanding Musical Theatre Production-Grey Gardens, and Outstanding M.T Ensemble for both Jacob Two-Two & Wizard of OZ. The Dora Awards are presented by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) and recognize excellence in Theatre, Dance and Opera in the Toronto Area. The 37th Annual Dora Awards take place in Toronto on June 27th 2016 at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto and will be hosted by Bruce Dow. Info about the show can be found here!

Sept. 21st Gridlocked world Premiere @ Fantastic fest
Gridlocked will make its world premiere at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas this week! Gridlocked is a feature film starring Dominic Purcell, Cody Hackman and features Matthew G Brown. This Action/Thriller follows a tactical assault officer (Purcell) who is saddled with a hard partying celebrity (Hackman) out to rehabilitate his image-and avoid jail time. A throwback to the Odd Couple, buddy-action flicks of the 90's and directed by Allan Ungar (Tapped Out) Gridlocked boasts an impressive cast with many of the staples of that genre including Stephen Lang, Vinnie Jones, Saul Rubinek, Trish Stratus and of course Danny Glover. Fantastic fest is the largest genre film festival in the U.S, specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi and action films from all around the world and runs from September 24th to October 1st. Gridlocked will have two screenings: Saturday, September 26th-8:45 PM and Tuesday, September 29th-1:45 PM at the legendary Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, TX. July 9th The Strain Season 2 on FX
Matthew will be appearing in an episode of the hit FX series The Strain during its second season! The Strain is a Sci-Fi thriller that follows Dr Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) the head of the Disease Control Canary Team in New York City as he and his team investigate a mysterious viral outbreak. It turns out that the outbreak is an evil, ancient strain of Vampirism. As the strain spreads Eph, his team, & an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war against the Master and his disciples for the fate of humanity. The series stars Mia Maestro, David Bradley, Jack Kesy, Natalie Brown and more. Look for Matthew to appear in episode 3 of the second season. July 2nd The Postman walks @ the Pan-am games
Matthew is proud to announce his participation in the new play The Postman being presented as part of The 2015 Pan-Am games under the Panamainia entertainment umbrella. The Postman is a site-specific, promenade style theatre piece that explores the life and times of Albert Jackson, Toronto's first Black Postman. The play will take place in short sections along a route that echoes Mr. Jackson's original delivery route of the Annex neighbourhood in Toronto (Harbord st, Brunswick ave, Palmerston ave and more)! Join us for an evening of drama and music as we explore and celebrate this historical Canadian story. Matthew will be apart of the chorus and the band and is apart of a talented cast including Dean Ilfill, Layne Coleman, Nicky Lawrence, Maurice Dean Wint and more. The Postman is directed by David Ferry with original music by Brooke Blackburn & Saidah baba Talibah. June 13th Dark Matter on SyFy and Space
The new Sci-Fi epic Dark Matter had its series premiere last night on Space (Canada) and SyFy (International). Dark Matter follows a six person crew (and one android) who awaken on a ship in space with no memory of who they are or how they got on board. With a cargo bay filled of weaponry and the destination of a remote mining colony primed to become a war zone, the crew must decide who's side to take. When they're faced with the truth of their past must make a deadly decesion. Will these amnesiacs turn their back on history or will their pasts catch up to them? Dark Matter boasts a stellar cast including Marc Bendavid (Degrassi) Melissa O'neil (Canadian Idol, Les Mis Broadway), Roger R Cross (24) & more. June 6th To Kill A mockingbird at the Dora Awards
To Kill A Mockingbird has been nominated for 3 Dora Mavor Moore Awards including best Ensemble! Matthew is nominated as part of a stellar cast including Jeff Miller, Lisa Berry, Caroline Toal (who is nominated for her outstanding performance as scout) and more. The Dora's are administered by the Toronto Alliance for Performing artists (TAPA) and have been given out annually for the past 35 years. The 36th Annual Dora Awards (hosted by Gavin Crawford) take place in Toronto on Monday June 22nd at the Harbourfront Centre. MARCH 2 SCOTIABANK SPY COMMERCIAL & the HCO SONG
Matthew currently has a couple of fun commercials on air! First off, check out the hilarious Scotiabank Spy commercial that's on air right now. Me and my "wife" are really excited about our new house...a little too excited...so why not stage a stake out of our new home! november 4 Hailstorm joins the Regent Park Film Fest
Hailstorm will be one of the opening night films at the Regent Park Film Festival on November 19th. Hailstorm will be part of the "Next: Emerging Directors Spotlight" program. The opening night program focuses on the future of Canadian Cinema placing the spotlight on four directors under the age of 26. Hailstorm starts Matthew G Brown, Melissa Hood, Matt Owen Murray, Rebecca Applebaum, Leah Doz and is directed by John Virtue. AUGUST 29 TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD @ YPT TORONTO
Matthew will be making his return to Young People's Theatre in To Kill A Mockingbird on stage October 6th-November 2nd 2014. Mockingbird tells the story of racial injustice in Depression-era Alabama seen through the eyes of a child. Based on the Pulitzer prize winning novel by Harper Lee, the show will be directed by Allen MacInnes and boasts an impressive cast including Matthew G Brown, Lisa Berry, Joe Matheson, Hume Baugh and Jeff Miller.
